Telephone Guidelines:
Pay phones are available on the Adult and

talk with their families, guardians and others as allowed by the child’s
psychiatrist/therapist.
To
respect the interests of everyone on the unit, telephone conversations are
limited to 15 minutes per call.
Calls received during treatment sessions will be returned rather than interrupt
the session.
Patients needing longer conversations can make arrangements with their therapist
or psychiatrist.
Situations requiring calls during scheduled treatment sessions can be arranged
in advance with the patient’s psychiatrist or therapist.
Children
and adolescents
are most often available for phone conversations between 4:15 and 7:30 PM,
when calls are less likely to interrupt treatment sessions or school.
Arrangements can be made for calls at other times. If a call needs to be
longer than about 5 minutes, please let the staff know so arrangements can
be made.
The hospital recognizes that the
support of loved ones is an essential component of the recovery process.
If you need an exception to these guidelines or need to visit at times
other than during regular visiting hours, please contact the patient's
Primary Therapist or the psychiatrist to make arrangements in advance of
your visit.
